*COMETS* Tuesday 19 November 2013 at 18.30 hrs Paola premises by Alexei Pace and Tony Tanti This is a good time to see comets if you have large binoculars or a telescope. Comet ISON is making the news however there are indeed four comets which can be seen after midnight (2013 R1 (Lovejoy), 2012 S1 (ISON), 2012 X1 (LINEAR) and 2P/Encke). During this talk we shall see what comets are and the characteristics of their orbits. We shall also look at the various techniques to observe them visually and how can one submit estimates of their brightness. These observations help astronomers further refine the orbit and behaviour.
