The Institute of Space Sciences and Astronomy, in collaboration with the Astronomical Society of Malta, shall be organizing an observation night event on the day of the partial lunar eclipse that will be visible from Malta during moonrise on the 7th of August. The event is being organized at L-Ahrax tal-Mellieha, close to the Immaculate Conception Chapel.
Members of the Institute and of the Astronomical Society shall be present on site to guide all those attending. Telescopes will be set up for all those attending to use, however the partial eclipse itself, for which the maximum will be at 20:20hrs local time, is easily visible with the naked eye. Later on in the night, we will be observing the planets Jupiter and Saturn as well as some nebulae and star clusters.
