Time for some artistic inspiration! Venus was a major Roman goddess principally associated with love, beauty and fertility, the equivalent of the Greek goddess Aphrodite. This image shows the conjunction of Venus and Saturn in the background and an accurate small replica of the famous statue of Venus De Milo in the foreground. Sometimes we might forget that many of the objects we see in the sky are named after such mythological figures. This photo reminds us of the connection that existed between mythology and astronomy in ancient times.
