Weather patterns presented by Saviour Porter
Tuesday, 9 June 2015 at 6:30 p.m., Paola premises in Antoine de Paule Square (entrance through the courtyard adjacent to the Paola Health Centre).
The weather influences our astronomical observations as well as forms part of our daily lives. In this talk, Saviour Porter will explain how different factors, such as temperature of the surrounding air, land and sea, levels of humidity, type and amount of precipitation, air pressure and the amount and type of cloud cover, as well as the direction, frequency and force of winds, create what we call the ‘weather’. He will also speak about how one can forecast whether the weather will be good or not for observing by consulting weather charts.
Saviour Porter served as Chief Meteorological Officer at Malta International Airport and was also appointed by the Government of Malta as Permanent Representative (Technical Affairs) in the World Meteorological Organisation.
