Public event: Light pollution on the Maltese Islands

We are excited to announce that for our February event we shall be discussing the issue of light pollution on the Maltese Islands. Astrophysicist Dr Joseph Caruana is our guest speaker for this event. He will be giving a talk and presentation followed by Q&A session at the end.

In this talk, Dr Caruana will explain the causes of artificial night sky brightness, share the findings of his group’s research, and highlight some of the measures that would help with mitigating the growing problem of light pollution.

Dr Joseph Caruana is an astrophysicist at the Department of Physics and Institute of Space Sciences and Astronomy of the University of Malta. Apart from his research regarding galaxies, he is also the leading authority when it comes to studying night sky brightness in Malta.

This event will be held online through Google Meet and the link to join the talk will be posted on this page and our Facebook page closer to the date.

The event will be open to the general public. No membership or registration necessary.
