Observing the Geminids and the autumn night sky

Saturday, 13 December 2014, from 7:00p.m. at Migra Ferha, Imtahleb.

The Geminid meteor shower will reach maximum activity on the night of Saturday-Sunday, 13-14 December.

This year you can watch the shower during the evening hours before moonrise. The last quarter Moon will rise at 11:24 p.m. on December 13 and at 0:19 a.m. on the 15th, creating a window of darkness for watching the Geminid shower in the evening. Weather permitting, the Astronomical Society is organising an observing session at Migra Ferha, limits of Imtahleb. (See the October 2014 issue of The Big Bang, page 11.)

The group will leave from the Domus Romana at Rabat at 6:30p.m. for those who do not know the route to Migra Ferha.
